Why is PJ Geosteering Different from Other Services?

A little about the owner: I'm a degreed geologist that has been in the upstream end of the oil business for over 30 years. Over the past couple of decades, I have been involved as a geosteering geologist all over the world. I was formerly Halliburton's Geosteering Focal Point for all of MENA (Middle East and North Africa) as well as Weatherford's Global Technical Advisor and Product Champion, I've seen every conceivable geosteering paleoenvironment, from Proterozoic algal mounds in Oman to Gravelites in Irkutsk that are claimed to be "abiogenic" in origin.

In the last two decades, since the rise of unconventional horizontals, I've been sadly watching the science and profession of geosteering degenerate from a highly skilled and coveted profession to something less so. Much of this has been driven by economics and a general hijacking of the term "geosteering" to where it now seems to exist only as a gamma only side item of lesser importance to other services, like mud logging or other well site services.  It's changed so much, that major service companies that offer true LWD geosteering services, no longer call their geosteerers by that name and now use words like "Reservoir Navigation" "Specialists" or "Supervisors."

Yes, all things change in time, but I think we are hurting our future if we don't give the true science of geosteering the revitalization it deserves. My mission is to change that trend and bring the standards and skill sets back that have been lost or forgotten and to set a new bar of standard for the future of geosteering as a science and a service.

I offer training in areas where training is needed - training intended to improve the performance and skill of not just geosteerers, but all those who deal with them on a daily basis.

I also offer specialized geosteering services for those clients who are tired of "soup kitchen geosteerers", where you never know who you are going to get from one well to the next, what their background is, or what they are doing instead of watching the well you are paying them to watch. The philosophy with our business and our business model is...

"One Customer - One Well at a Time".

I have seen it become the practice, since the rise of unconventionals and the subsequent fall of geosteering standards, that often times geosteerers aren't just watching one well, but three - and often with three different clients. If you pay for a person to be watching your well for a 12-hour shift, that person should be 100% focused on what YOU PAID HIM/HER to be focused on - especially when your data is private. There is too much risk of morning emails going to the wrong address or critical decisions sent to the wrong rig, not to mention the lack of full attention required to do the job right. So, for better service all around, we do one well at a time.

Likewise, the geosteerer you paid for should know how to geosteer your well whether you are using simple gamma only or full triple or quad-combo with azimuthal images. It’s becoming more and more common to see mixed service levels within the same field, so if you are comfortable having the same geosteerer on your team, he should know how to handle all levels of geosteering.

If I can be of any service to you, don't hesitate to email me personally at the contact details below. Please check "What We Offer" at the left. Our services are GLOBAL upon paid airfare.
